Why I’m Finally Making My Own Game

I have spent thousands of hours playing games. Exploring vast open worlds, grinding for loot, and marveling at the tiny details developers hid in the corners of maps.

But recently, holding the controller wasn’t enough. I wanted to know how the magic trick worked.

Welcome to Game Dev Blog!

This blog marks the official start of my journey from “Gamer” to “Game Developer.” Whether you are a fellow developer, a curious player, or just someone who likes seeing things getting built from scratch—welcome aboard.

Why Start a Devlog?

Game development is notoriously hard. It is a mix of coding logic, artistic chaos, and specific engines that sometimes feel like they are fighting you.

I’m starting this blog for two main reasons:

  1. Accountability: It is easy to start a project; it is hard to finish one. By posting updates here, I’m forcing myself to show up and make progress.
  2. Documentation: I want to share the solutions to the bugs that kept me up until 3 AM, so you don’t have to suffer through them too.

My “Weapon” of Choice: The Tech Stack

Every craftsman needs their tools. For my upcoming projects, I will be focusing on:

  • The Engine: Unity Engine
  • 3D/2D Art: Blender
  • Coding: C#

What You Can Expect

This won’t just be a highlight reel of success. I plan to share the ugly parts too: the broken physics, the spaghetti code, and the mechanics that just didn’t work.

You can expect:

  • Weekly/Monthly Devlogs: Updates on my current game project.
  • “How-I-Did-It” Tutorials: breaking down specific mechanics.
  • Asset Reviews: Tools and assets that are actually worth using.

Current Status: The First Project

I am currently working on a 2D Platformer prototype. It is small, it is rough, but it is mine.

Thank you for joining me on this adventure. It’s going to be a bumpy ride, but I can’t wait to show you what I’m building.
